Money Can Take The Luster Out Of Life

Do you ever feel like money takes the luster out of life?

Money is something people really don’t like to talk about, but we all want money.

We have to get to a point where we get comfortable talking about it and figure out
how we can deal with it and not let it suck the life out of us.

When you’re stressed about money, it shows on your face, it shows up in the
conversations that you have.

Don’t give all of your good energy to stressing over money.

There are things that you can do to alleviate a lot of that stress, like prepare, take
the time to figure out how much money you can set aside every month to use as backup.

Clothing Labels-Why You Need To Cut Them Off

Garment manufacturers put the designer name, fiber content and washing instructions
labels and tags on your clothes.

Cut off the labels(and be really careful) that look unattractive and can cause itching at
the back of your neck.

Feeling Bad About Your Body At The End Of The Holiday Celebrations?

Feeling Bad About Your Body At The End Of The HolidayCelebrations-

Are you coming off of the holidays and end of the year celebrations feeling yucky?
(yucky is a real word, I looked it up in the Webster’s Dictionary)

Yucky seems to be the only word that really describes what it feels like after
the Holidays.

Just when you thought you had enjoyed the holidays- something crept in to
make you feel yucky because maybe, you ate too much and you didn’t take
care of yourself during the holidays.  Or, maybe you spent way more money
than you had, and you don’t want anyone to know about any of these things.

It happens to the best of us – you’re not alone.

It’s common that many women feel bad about their body after the holidays
especially when they felt like they ate way too much.  There’s so much
temptation with all the amazing food that’s around.  That can make anyone
crazy.

I want to ask you some questions and take a minute to think about it:

  • Do you have bad or negative feelings about your body?

  • Do you find yourself not wanting to look in the mirror
because you don’t want to see how much weight you
    have gained?

  • Do you find yourself wearing baggy clothes because
you don’t want people to see how much weight you
    have gained?

  • Are you stressing out because you spent way too much
money and now you don’t know how you are going to
    pay your bills this month?

The end of the holidays and the start of the new year is not supposed to feel like this.
Right?

How do you feel about it?  Whatever your thoughts are about that, it’s O.K. that’s just
part of life.

If you let it, feeling yucky about those things can consume your life.

Feeling bad about your body didn’t just start during this past holiday season.  Feeling
bad about your body always starts at an early age and I’ve talked a little bit about it
before.

Wearing baggy or oversized clothes is not the solution.

Why would you want to torture yourself and feel bad about your body and how you
look?

Here is what I want you to put into place because you’re worth it:  Start treating your
body like it’s a gift.  I know it sounds crazy, but just trust me and try it out.

God gave you and I an amazing body and we have to appreciate it and think of it as
a gift.

Just think about all of the wonderful things your body can do – walk, run, give a hug
and so much more.

Turn that torture and bad feelings about your body and how you look upside down
and see what’s on the other side.  It’s the same thing with your finances if you spent
more than you had.

Sometimes we all do things that are not the best for us.  That’s part of being human
and living life.  You have to experience things that are both good and bad, so that
you can learn and grow.  Welcome to life!

Now is the best part… decide what you want.  Do you want to continue to feel
bad about your body and your finances or do you want to work on letting it go?

A word of caution! . . . what ever you do, don’t compare yourself to anyone else
on this planet.  Comparison will knock you down and keep you down.  Remember
that you are unique, there is no one else like you on this earth.

You are special.

Making a decision on what you want is so powerful.  No one can ever take that
away from you.  Yes, it will take work for you to let go and overcome those bad
feelings, but it’s so worth it.

Anything of worth is going to take some work to make it better, and now is a
great time to get started and make that decision to overcome any bad feelings.
Especially since it’s the beginning of a new year and there seems to be a feeling
of hope at this time.

Remember, it’s not worth it to start off a new year feeling bad about your body
and your finances.

I am here to help you with your body image and getting your finances straight.
It is possible to feel good and get things in order.

Please contact me so that I can help you get started today.

episode #015 – Sometimes The Only Thing We Can Do Is To Make It Through The Day

Have you ever had a time in your life where things were so
stressful and there was a lot going on?  Are you going through
it now?

Because life throws curve balls at you and you may not be
prepared or feel like you’re ready to take on those curve
balls, that you just feel like screaming or maybe even crying!

Curve balls a.k.a.: a flat tire or a car accident on the freeway
and now you’re going to be 30 minutes late to work or an
appointment, or as soon as you get to work you get a phone
call from your child’s school that he or she is feeling sick and
you need to pick him or her up as soon as possible, or you

get home from work and somebody in your family reminds you
that you signed up to bring snacks to a school or committee
meeting that night, or how about all of these things happening
in one day!

At this point you’re thinking no way…this cannot be happening!
And you start to wonder if you can make it through the rest of
the day.

This is just an example of a few of the many endless things
that has happened to me and many other people that I know.

I’m sure you can relate as you are reading this.

With life being so busy and moving fast, sometimes the only
thing you can do it make it through the day and not worry about
tomorrow or the future.

I want to let you know that you’re not alone, life likes to keep you
on your toes which at times can seem relentless.  It seems like the
light at the end of the tunnel is not even in your view or you don’t
even have the energy to dream of the light.

When these things are happening, have you ever had the thought
of “I just want to get on an airplane and fly off somewhere where
nobody can find me”.  Well, I have had that thought many, many
times.  Although it’s never happened…I’ve never gotten on an
airplane and flew off to somewhere far away when life was throwing
me curve balls.

It’s a great thought though, don’t you think?

Sometimes the frustration level is so high that you just feel like
you just can’t deal with all the stress that’s happening in one day.

Well, looking back at those times of dealing with the curve balls
I realize that on quite a few occasions, that it was because of my
lack of planning and preparation.  Of course I’m talking about things
that I had control over, like having the snack ready ahead of time
and things like that.  Obviously I have no control over a flat tire,
a car accident on the freeway or my child getting sick at school.
But I do have control over other little things that I can put in place
and prepare for.

Hind sight is always great, because it means that you are willing
to see and learn from all the things that didn’t work in the past.
It’s also really important to realize that you can’t change the past.
It’s really easy to blame everyone and everything else instead of
just accepting what happened and realize that sometimes there’s
nothing that you can do or could have done in certain situations.

Women in general are so hard on themselves when things happen
and go in a direction that created pain or stress, that they start
saying things to themselves that are very emotionally, mentally and
spiritually harmful.

There is nothing that is worth that kind of pain to your emotions,
your
mind or your spirit.

It really is OK to want to just make it through the day and nothing
more.  Just remember to breathe…

If and when you have curve balls coming at you, just remember that
you are only going to be better for having gone through it.

Here’s 4 things I suggest that you do:

1.  Set a specific day and time each week to go over your life and
what is going on during the coming week.

2.  Jot down on a paper calendar or your digital calendar, as many
notes as possible about what’s happening on each day and what
you need to do for each thing.

3.  Let everyone know that is involved in your activities.

4.  Look at your calendar multiple times a day.  You’ll be amazed at
how easily it is to forget what you put in the calendar.

It may sound a little too simple, but it really is powerful in helping
you deal with any curve balls.

Just trying to make it through the day is better than just giving up and
throwing in the towel and not dealing with the curve balls in a positive
way.

I would love to hear from you, tell me what kinds of curve balls you’ve
had in your life and how you dealt with it and let me know what you think,

episode #012 – Doubt-It Doesn’t Have To Be!

Doubt - It Doesn't Have To Be!

Aloha, in this episode I talk about Doubt – It Doesn’t Have To Be!

I think a lot about all of you listeners every day and whatI can
share with you, and to share the things that I’ve learned and the
experiences that I had.

I want to talk about Doubt-It Doesn’t Have To Be!  I have met so
many people who suffer from doubt, we have so much that we
doubt in our daily lives.

I wanted to see the dictionary’s definition of ‘doubt’ and it says:to
be uncertain about, to consider questionable or unlikely, hesitate
to believe, to distrust, to fear, to be apprehensive about, to be
uncertain about something to be undecided in opinion or belief.

How many of you have a lot of doubt within you?

Fear and doubt have a strong connection.  Have you ever been
in a conversation with someone and they say to you “I doubt it”
without even doing the research and finding out if something is
true or not?

Have you ever questioned your doubt?  You should always doubt
the doubt before we just accept it.

Women suffer from Fear, Doubt and Shame.  What do you doubt in
your life?  Doubt comes from different places just like fear.  Doubt
really stops us from achieving a lot of things and has us feeling like
we can’t move forward.  It also prevents us from feeling joy and creating.

Writing everything down on paper about your doubt is a great way to
figure out what is it that you’ve been doubting all these years.  Write
down whatever’s going on in your life.  Write down if it’s a person that
your doubting, is it a place your at right now or is it a thing in your life
that you’re doubting.  Take the time to figure out what your doubts are.

We have to have trials and struggles in life, that’s how we can learn and
grow and to gain knowledge to be able to overcome our weaknesses,
that’s how God created life to be.

There is a doubt that you have that is preventing you from overcoming
a lot of things or achieving your goals.

Question the doubts.

Everyone I know has conversations in their mind, so why noT have a
conversation with yourself about figuring out what your doubts are and
how to overcome them.  Work it out in your mind.

We all have strengths and weaknesses.

If you need help with figuring out what you’re having doubts about, I
will be happy to help you, send me an email at janin@fashionablefinance.com.

Doubt is a big killer of joy and creativity.  Creativity is not limited to drawing
and painting, everything we do everyday is creative and were always creating.

I love people, I think people are really fascinating and we all need each other.
There’s so much we as women have to offer so many people, that’s why we
need to let go of the doubt.

I would love your feedback, send me your comments or questions.

episode #008 – Ladies, Let’s Get Control Of Your Finances!

Aloha, have you ever wondered if your finances were controlling you?

In this episode, I talk about why you need to get control of
your finances, some of the ways in which to
do that and how you are affected by not having the
necessary control of money coming in and money
going out each month.

What women think about their finances:

  • It’s a humbug

  • they don’t like to manage it

  • they don’t like to think about it

  • deal with it

  • boring,

  • stresses them out

Your finances involves:

  • rent or mortgage

  • electric

  • water

  • cell phone

  • food

  • gas and more

You need to have a system in place:

  • need to write things down

  • get a notebook

  • take 15 minutes, write down all the bills you have

  • set up a system that works for you

  • set up bill paying to be deducted automatically from a checking account

Need to control what money you have:

  • have a strong desire to overcome and to get a system set up

  • if you need help, ask!

  • it’s good to have  support

Women want freedom:

  • to do the things we want to do

  • women like to have control

Finances do control you if you don’t have a system set up and don’t have a flow

This topic is not interesting to talk about, that’s why having a system setup can help you
feel at ease and not stress out about paying bills, because sometimes you may not be
sure if there’s enough money to pay your bills.

What about you?  Everything is connected:

  • take a good look at yourself, what do you see?

  • write down what’s going on in your life

  • how you’re feeling

  • be honest with yourself

To make sure you’re on track and to create a habit that will help you start controlling
things in the right way, you have to start somewhere.

Try this:

  • just take a few minutes everyday and write things down

  • take small steps

  • write down how much income is coming in each month

  • spend a few minutes everyday taking care of your finances

You can’t live without money:

  • everyday it takes money for us to live

  • everyday you’re spending money

It’s ok to talk about your finances, don’t be ashamed.  That’s why
my business name is fashionable finance, the word ‘fashionable’ is
meant to be used in a way that refers to your finances as being OK
to talk about it.

My goal is for you to learn all the things you need to learn on the go
because we’re all busy.

I hope you are enjoying listening to this podcast!
